The impetus for Buried in Rust was to make some simple demo tracks for a small modular synth. Some of the sounds couldn't be resisted and had to be fleshed out fully into songs.
A large portion of the album was made using analog synths, and a good portion of the analog synths used are attributed to the aforementioned small modular synth.
This album along with a good many other Ruin albums tends to conjure specific images for me: a desolate alien land with slow moving poisonous clouds lingering low in the sky. It is a beacon of civilization conducting the land and its wreckage to perform a symphony of rust.
